bubble-1 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do I need a notary?

A notary confirms your identity, witnesses signatures, and ensures your estate plan is legally valid in your state.

Q: Why should I pay for a Digital Online Notary?

A digital online notary adds convenience, ensuring you properly sign your documents, and saving you time driving around to physical notaries that may not allow for estate plan notarization.

Q: How long does notarization take?

Appointments usually take 15–30 minutes.

Q: How soon can I schedule an appointment?

You can book an appointment for time, as long as it is 24 hours from the time the order is placed. This helps ensure we can find a qualified notary.

Snapdocs typically matches you with a notary within 20 minutes to a few hours, then your notary will reach out directly to confirm exact timing.

Q: What ID do I need?

A valid government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport.

Q: What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

You can update your appointment in the Snapdocs portal.

If you can need to cancel, no worries. We will issue a full refund as long as the notary has not journeyed to the signing location.

Q: What languages are supported?

Select your preferred language on the form. Many notaries speak multiple languages.

Q: Are my documents secure?

Snapdocs uses encrypted communication and secure portals; your privacy is protected.

Q: Can my spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, in-laws or cousin be a witness?

No. Family members and relatives should not serve as witnesses.

Q: Can my roommate, friend, coworker, or neighbor be a witness?

Yes, provided they:
• Are at least 18 years old
• Are not named anywhere in your estate planning documents
• Are not related to you

Q: Can my beneficiary be a witness?

No. Anyone named in your estate planning documents—including beneficiaries, trustees, executors, agents under powers of attorney, or anyone receiving a benefit—should not serve as a witness.

Q: What happens if I don't have my own witnesses?

No problem. You can choose the option to have the notary provide witnesses for an additional fee.

If you have already paid, indicating you will bring your own witnesses, contact twsupport@snapdocs.com and we’ll send you a one-time payment link for the additional charge and the notary will bring witnesses.
